Re: Christmas GPU Upgrades, benchmark suggestions?

in Milliways
It'll be more interesting to see what happens when you put the 1060 in YOUR system and bench the same set again to see how far you can go, despite the C2D limitations. It's good to see the 8800GTX is no slouch and is not too far behind the 750Ti, a respectable performer for an older generation card …

Re: Christmas GPU Upgrades, benchmark suggestions?

Got the GTX 1060 in my son's PC. He's busy playing COD: BO3, so I put his old GTX 750Ti into my XP rig. Will take benches from his system when he takes a break. Meanwhile, here's how the 750Ti compares to the 8800GTX it replaced. The CPU is a 2.67Ghz C2D, so there's plenty of CPU limiting going on, …

Re: Meet the New DOS!

Seems like Screamer 2 is one of the ultimate DOS SVGA benchmarks? I also test System Shock SVGA full screen and USNF SVGA. I wonder what the best CPU speed will end up being? I bet Phil's working on another video to answer that. ;) Could be an interesting topic :D I don't think those games are …

Re: Meet the New DOS!

The motherboard is out of some old HP-something, that's why it's uATX and that's why it's so limited (few BIOS options, can't disable L2, etc). Guess what guys? I started thinking, I have a DX2-66 with lots of speed steps, including the classic Wing Commander. So all the POD200 speed zones aren't …

Re: DAT PACKARD BELL

Thanks! It probably is, I'm guessing cause it has 2MB VRAM instead of 1MB of the Cirrus Logic. Really I just wanted more colors and better resolution in Windows 3.11 and I had it lying around. I see two empty slots for your Cirrus Logic memory. If your Trident has the same type, you can benchmark …

Re: Meet the New DOS!

Very nice, a fine machine you got there! SIS Socket 7 chipset deserve more loving, they are quite decent actually  Yeah, one thing I just noticed though. The southbridge seem to be slower than on the Triton chipset. Integer, cache and memory benchmarks score higher on the SiS (using 7zip …

Meet the New DOS!

Many of you have heard me talk about my beloved Packard Bell Multimedia C110 DOS machine. With a POD200MMX that has awesome slowdown abilities with SETMUL due to support for Intel test registers. The only downsides were no L2 cache on the motherboard and slower 72-pin memory. I've had in my …

Christmas blessings to all! badmojo, you're making me hungry! Enjoy the snow, gdjacobs. We got our first snow of the season last week. Only lasted a day and totaled 2 inches, but we did get a few days of single digit temps and two consecutive mornings in the negatives. Now we're scheduled for 60 …

Anyone have DUKEBENC.TXT in their archives?

in Milliways
Back in 1996 I maintained a Duke Nukem 3D benchmark list in a plain text file. It was all done through email or AOL. Then at some point I handed off the maintenance of the data to someone else and forgot all about it. I came across reference to this text file which reminded me of it so I started to …
