Does anyone know the difference? I've seen both on ebay and curious what differences there are between the "B" and "E" revisions.

The Fireball 1080A was one of the fastest 1GB drives and later on the Fireball Plus line went to 7200 RPM and were considered very high end. James, have you tested the line-out vs speaker-out on the YMF71x? Conventional wisdom has always said that line-out is preferred, but I've had my Audician jumpered for speaker-out (amplified) for a few months and it still is quieter (less hiss) than the CT2800.

How are you determining that your CPU speed is changing? From the POST screen at bootup? Try running Speedsys or some other diagnostic to confirm whether it's actually changing.

I've used Windex for grime and Mr Clean Magic Erasers for permanent marker removal. The Magic Eraser seems to take away the yellowing too, but it will take some elbow grease and will cause scratches on glossy surfaces. Maybe not the best options, but works for me in a pinch.

Might also want to consider a Sensaura-based card like the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. Supports A3D 1.0, EAX 1.0 and EAX 2.0. It "just works" and quite well IMO. Its MIDI also sounds awesome (better than the Live! IMO) which comes in handy if you're playing old General MIDI games in DOSBox/ScummVM. …
