Re: What game are you playing now?

in Milliways
DUSK and Amid Evil are tons of fun. Ion Maiden as well (but there's not much to that one yet). They aren't just retro/nostalgia cashgrabs. They're labours of love the actually do hearken back to the days when shooters were actually good and I enjoyed them. All of these developers know what they're …

Re: PC for MT-32

Basically I am looking for what type of pc would be the best to leave MT-32 connected to and having separate pc for SC-55. Currently I have it in 486 33Mhz with VLB Tseng ET4000/w32p, SB16 CT2290 and 8mb of ram that can be slowed down to 286 and 386 levels with turbo and disabling L1/L2. It is …

Re: PC for MT-32

That sounds about right. MT-32 games where a 486 33MHz wouldn't count as matching or exceeding the recommended system requirements are rare. I really only know of the aforementioned Strike Commander. However, given that you can slow down a Pentium to 486 and 386 levels, I tend to recommend a …

Re: PC for MT-32

Strike Commander sounds better on MT-32 than GM and needs a Pentium to run smoothly. This is probably the most demanding MT-32 game. I played it on a 486/66 VLB system and it was borderline unplayable on certain maps with lots of enemies. No enemies around, it plays fine. There's no problem using an …

Re: What are your plans for Thanksgiving?

in Milliways
Just my wife and son. Our family is out of state. We may go to the movies later today or tomorrow. Typically, I handle the turkey and wash the dishes while my wife does all the side dishes. Since we only eat turkey once a year, it makes for an interesting time figuring out how I want to prepare it ( …

Re: What game are you playing now?

So, this is the first time I'm trying this: I made a simple spreadsheet to track my gameplay time. I just finished the first level of Stonekeep. Granted, very completionistically, but it took 4 hr and 11 minutes over the course of 5 different play sessions on 5 different days. So about 50 minutes …

And with that, I will now say goodbye to this thread - and the forums. I'm going to take some time off from VOGONS, I really need to. Nothing personal, just need to take care of things - very important things; once everything is in the clear I'll return. Of course I will continue to play games when …

Re: Underworld Ascendant released

I'm playing wait and see. I played through both Underworlds in the last couple of years, so the originals are fresh in my mind still. After reading reviews on Steam, it seems very unfinished. I expect similar mixed reviews and disappointment when System Shock Remastered eventually comes out. …

Just finished Anvil of Dawn on my DOS PC. I must say, it was a pretty awesome game. I'm estimating about 50 hrs of gameplay. Here is the obligatory proof: Filename anvil of dawn.jpg File size 1.9 MiB Views 1896 views Next up, I think I'll take a stab at Stonekeep.

Re: TNT vs TNT2 M64

Very cool, thanks for posting this! From a playability standpoint, there's not much difference between the three. I'm kind of surprised the 16MB TNT2 outscores the 32MB version as often as it does.

Re: What game are you playing now?

Yes, Anvil of Dawn was the game I was asking about. Sorry for not being clear. I really am enjoying Anvil of Dawn. It's pretty simple and basic as far as RPGs go, but as a middle-aged man now, that's not a bad thing. There's a place for complex RPGs and simple ones alike. The story is decent, the …

Re: What game are you playing now?

I'm in the last 1/3 of Anvil of Dawn on my Pentium DOS PC. Been playing for a couple of months now, about 5 hrs a week. Inching along, but making progress. Super fun game! Also playing F.E.A.R. (GOG version) and having a blast! I'm currently in the Bad Water interval, roughly 20% into the game. How …
