Re: dos 7.10 on an xt?

supposedly on the commandline for the driver you can specify uni/ecp/epp I have the ebox program from days of old to hook 2 computers together via serial or parallel for drive sharing. Naturally I can't find my cables. I can share a cd or bigger drives from a more modern pc. I assume a cd,it may be …

Re: dos 7.10 on an xt?

that was the selling point of the parallel cd, it was supposed to work on the xt. Then why do you mess with DOS 7.x, which won't ever run on an XT? If it is supposed to work on an XT, use DOS 5.0 or even 3.3. And check the readme of the software version you use. Maybe it's too new and only older …

Re: dos 7.10 on an xt?

that was the selling point of the parallel cd, it was supposed to work on the xt. the 1994 dos 7.0 wouldn't boot either.it has the old fashion io.sys and msdos.sys and was released in the win3.1 days. release date was 1-1-94 Version 2.06 - dated 1996 - diskette label indicates 'models 163550, 164550 …

Re: dos 7.10 on an xt?

my parallel cd interface won't work with the older 16 bit dos versions. even the test program testport.exe locks up. 360k floppy win95b doesn't boot either. You can't format and make bootable the usual way in win95,you have to get into dos mode and go to the windows\command folder and use sys.com …

memsim32

Was trying to remember the program I used 30 years ago to run win 3.0 on an xt. Found it last night in my archives. Memsim32 uses a file on your hardrive to simulate lim 3.2 expanded memory. You can find it with an ftp search so I won't bother uploading. memsim32.08x is for xt 8086/8088/v20 memsim32 …

I think it wiped out the mbr and fats. I have 3 more drives just the mbr wiped out, another oldie but baddie? Tiramisu shows the recovered files but way back including the previous windows install.Nothing work killing myself to retrieve but fun watching it do it's thing.

Re: Michelangelo virus

In the DOS days I had programs that would save track 0 of the hardrive to a floppy in case something happened. Boot off floppy and restore track 0 only.I don't know how they would react to huge drives.

thanks for that one, just grabbed it. most of the floppies were in good shape, considering they were 35 years old stored in an unheated garage.
