Doesn't A7N8X Deluxe have a jumper that locks FSB to 200MHz when set to 2-3 position (instead of 1-2 for 266/333/400) ?

Either X-FI PCI (should be cheaper than PCIe), or Xonar DX PCIe (if you can live with emulated EAX).

After all the tests I realized that the seller assembled the kit with a rampage X-fi and not the original for the Maximum Formula. Super Socket 7 with K6-III+ CPU (+ AGP on MB). Unless you want later 98/XP era games to work with higher performance. PS. Expect high prices, consider making it two seperate PCs which might be better overall for budget (and will cover more options).

Just because you have IMC, doesn't mean all boards use the same memory layout. Some not connect ECC pins for example as it's extra feature. Check overscan settings in Catalyst Control Center. Alternatively - try to adjust refresh of your resolution via power strip (or other software for monitor manipulation).

If you can play games at what you consider playable framerates, and visual details aren't too far from reviews from 2003/2004 - it should be fine. Faster CPU is nice but make sure your board supports it before buying.

Price difference between 9500GT and 9600GT (3650 and 3850) is negligible at this point. Sometimes it's cheaper. You are correct and if you want top performance under WinXP, you should definitely go for them instead (HD 3850/9600 GT) vs. anything tested here. I had to limit scope of this test to not …
