Just replace all the tantalum caps of that Tseng card and see if it works. An old MFM disk did this to me and replacing the caps fixed it

A speed issue would never fry a board to my knowledge. I believe that's because even though they use the same connector, the pinout is different

You can still increase DOS benchmark results on AGP cards to some degree with Slot 1 boards and Super socket 7 IIRC

Yeah, amptron = PCChips = fake cache. If you want to have cache on these, you need to buy a specific COAST module that will only work with these. Don't use any other kind of COAST module or you'll toast your board or the COAST module or both

2M-XBIOS is just a program that is present in a combination of multiple programs under the name of just "2M". Originally, it allows you to put more data on floppy disk than they do normally (for example : 1.8MB on a 1.44MB floppy disk without compression, 700/800K on a 360K 5"1/4 floppy disk, etc …

That's exactly what my XT from 1988 did ^^ 2m should be able to fix this (if your controller supports 3.5" drives of course, but I think it should be okay. If not, that'll just not work)

Sorry, that's not correct. Okay maybe not ALL of them, but like 90/95% of them. That's exactly what my XT did : it reported my 1.44 MB 3?5" drive as a 360KB 5"1/4 drive with si.exe Yeah still no. Maybe your 1.44MB floppy drive can't detect Double Density disks : some of the later drives were so cheap that they removed that feature. As for the XT, this is just a "bug" because all XT bioses can only use 360k 5"1/4 floppy disks. There are several methods to remove that limitation such as using …

Many drives from that era won't read burned CDs. Sometimes, burning CDs to a really slow speed helps ... if your burner can burn at such low speed. Otherwise use only originals, or use another CD drive

Yeah that 286 looks too cool to be harmed 🙁 By the way, there's a battery on the motherboard nearby the keyboard connector. Remove it immediately before it leaks ! As for parts, search locally, you won't find any good deals on ebay except if you're lucky
