I would add to this : don't install directx 9, it makes incompatibilities with older games. Most DX9 games won't work great with that hardware configuration anyways, stick to DX8 and you should be good

@FFXIhealer : yes, I remeber using this kind of thing on my HP vectra 486 which has a limit of 504MB successfully with MS-DOS 6.22 with a 10GB HDD and also a 800MB HDD

The tearing effect is still very noticeable on a CRT. I prefer activate V-sync personally, I didn't experienced input lag (I don't even know if I ever experienced that on PC games. But that's just me, I'm not a pro gamer 🤣)

Both 12 and 8 MB have chips on each sides usually, but the 8MB model has some missing on the back. If there is no empty bank, then yes it should be a 12MB model
