I did that mistake too with my IBM PC340 (pentium 100 cheap IBM) The cache chip surely died, but the computer still works (I never managed to have working cache in it though, it was just one morr failed attempt that ended horribly for the cache chip)

Dx9 isn't really useful in Windows 98. It creates more incompatibilities issues than it solves. (Only a few games that can work under 98 requires dx9)

I think that Q3 and UT99 would run fine on a voodoo 3 anyways. If you don't play anything newer than 99-2000, you shouldn't really need to switch inbetween two cards every times (I don't know if that would be very reliable, expansion ports aren't designed to be touched everyday even though it's not …

Are there PCI versions of voodoo 3 available to you ? I think that you could just have 2 graphic cards and switch to one or the other to play directx or glide game

My 486 HP vectra has exactly the same PSU. In fact, I think that all hp vectras from the early-mid 90's had this PSU However, you won't be able to fit these anywhere else than in another HP vectra ...

I remember having resized an original Toshiba windows 95 found on a 200CDS and moved it to my 210CS on the bigger hard drive with mini tool partition wizard and it seems to have worked without any issues You need something to plug the old hdd to a modern computer though

Well without touching anything, when I tried the vga card it worked directly. And yes I've tried the 4 possible positions and nothing came out from the card 😒 I think the best thing to try before is the RGBi output, but I have to build the adaptet first
