Re: Okay! Pentium 60 it is: and tips on motherboards or adapting a socket5/socket 7 one?

Yep! Indeed, it's not a rational thing. It's an emotional attachment. Strange. I’d understand if someone would say that for example 486SLC is not true 486, but Am5x86 is just a marketing name, but here the architecture is identical to 486DX. It is so fully a regular 486 that it actually can’t be …

Re: Okay! Pentium 60 it is: and tips on motherboards or adapting a socket5/socket 7 one?

Wow guys! Too bad AMD didn't keep the "486...something" name on the chips. For a 486 purist like me, the latest and fastest 486 remains the AMD 486 DX4-120. On the faster ones, it says 5x86, therefore, it doesn't feel like a 486. That's about as rational as saying the V30 is not an 8086 CPU.. Yep! …

There has been incidentally quite neat ProSignia EISA/PCI server for sale locally in my country. P90, SCSI DVD, DAT and HDD, although apparently HDD is on its last legs. It has been for sale like months, it started with 100€ and is now 90€: Here is the link, so you can at least drool over the pics …

Re: Okay! Pentium 60 it is: and tips on motherboards or adapting a socket5/socket 7 one?

Pentium 60/66 works only in 5V boards and there is no room for upgrade, why would anyone sold those separately? its combo like 386 boards. Bad IDE controllers (afaik corrupted with two devices on same channel, otherwise good), bad early PCI bridges (irqs set with jumpers, not every slot capable of …
