As far as I can tell from MSD, it's got Vesa version 2.0, so I'm not sure why it's not working.

Okay, I'll give that a shot. Running in Vesa isn't a REQUIREMENT anyway, I just thought it'd be nice. I'll try that and if everything still runs like poopy, I'll come back to the forums and ask for advice on a decent card for Vesa/SVGA play.

Stacks didn't help, but I upgraded to Win 3.11 (not for Workgroups) and that seems to have done the trick. Thank you!

You might also look into a FireGl series card or a Radeon 8500. Not as powerful as a 9700/9800 but if you want to stick with ATi, it's a decent step up from the Radeon 7000. I have a 256MB FireGL 8800 that does pretty decent considering. It will also work with the vanilla Radeon 8500 drivers. I may …

That made the D3D version work again, so I'm sure you were right about the RAM issue. Though it seems odd the non-D3D version won't boot.

Okay maybe I misunderstood. I tried installing LOD patches AFTER installing LOD. I then tried just vanilla D2 with VANILLA D2 patches and they also didn't work.
