For me, when I think 486 system, I'm thinking something like a 486dx2 66, 8meg ram, Soundblaster 16, Diamond VLB video card and a 4x/8x CDROM. That's the nostalgia sweet spot for me.

I have several sony drives. All they've ever needed was a head clean. I use one in my greaseweazle and it works beautifully.

Very Nice. I've been thinking of switching my Greaseweazle to one of the combo 3.5/5.25 drives but I kinda like not needing an external power supply with just the 3.5 drive. I 3d printed a case i found on thingiverse for mine.

I needed an EPROM eraser to reprogram some old BIOS chips. The cheap EPROM erasers on Amazon don't have a good reputation for quality, so instead I bought a UV sterilizer designed for disinfecting baby pacifiers. Sterilizer 1.jpg It has four UV-C LEDs inside. I just taped down the EPROM on top of …

I have a Prolinea 5100e that I powered on with an ATX psu just to test. It posted but I didn't try anything further as the connections were really sketch and I didn't want to push my luck. I have 2 compaq psu's that are dead but I do have a Presario 9660 Tower I can test the pin out on as it works …

I just gave away 4 CRT's I didn't need/have room for anymore. I made a post of facebook and they were gone within 20 minutes to a very happy new owner.

When your trying this are you removing the math coprocessor? Pull the math co and then try the dlc chip again. I'd also try changing the j13 jumper to the 20/40 setting.

I just found this project at the right time, I put an order for the PCB's in. Haven't ordered anything else yet as I chose the slow ship for the PCB's. Should be a fun project.

A while back I found a chipset heatsink off a server that was being scrapped that I thought would make a great 486 heatsink. I had some time so I sat down and modified a 3d printed heatsink retainer to fit how I needed. Turned out pretty well. OOO! Are you willing to share that 3d printed part file …
