I guess I am wondering what Creative had in mind to "show off" their new tech in the SB Pro when it was released. I feel like there had to be something out there that took advantage of the SB Pro when it was first released?

I just completed a 1991 era build with a SB Pro CT1330A. Now I was wondering, what are some of the original SB Pro games released in 1991? I'm not able to find a whole lot of good information on this. I've tried Mobygames but the list it provided was not very accurate.

Well I tried it out and the memory optimization is horrible. So I don't see much use in it. I installed DR-DOS 5.0 instead on my 1990 build and its amazing! It really is a great alternative to MS-DOS of the time.

Since I have dove into the retro PC world I have constantly heard that MS-DOS 4.0 is horrible and to stay away from it. So I have, not really knowing why. I was just wandering. Would it be technically possible to just switch the Yamaha OPL chips on a SB Pro 1 or 2? For example, turning a SB Pro 2 CT1600 into an SB Pro 1 CT1330 or vice versa. I know for sure that the 64V+ was around in 1995. I do have one of those and it does show production dates in '95 on the chip. I know there are some Virge cards that also show 1995 production dates but I do not believe they were made available until early 1996.

As it seems a CT1330 is near impossible to find these days I was looking for a compatible that someone might recommend? Something with comparable quality and design (Dual OPL2).

I did receive the chips and it does work better but occasionally when moving around a window lines will appear but not near as bad. Also, I am curious how you go about determining memory capacity on these chips? The datasheet says they are 256k x 16. Wouldn't that mean 4mb? So why do I only have 2mb …
