Yes the board has an external battery header. I connected 3V to it (do not have something better at the moment) but it didnt change anything. Never seen a board that requires a battery connected to power on... I am almost sure POST passes the 1st time I turned on the PC as I heard the seeking noise …

I made this 100x times and never damaged anything. For the 30 pin you usually need 4 of the same kind. If you have 3x1mb and 1x4mb it will display 4 mb ... not 7. So for your test setup install the largest simms you have and exchange only one to test.

I dont think its possible to flash in the 486 Board. Remove the Chip and Hot-Flash in your PCI system. You can most probably also use another Flash-Chip if the 28F010 is not detected.
