I did some benchmarks and discovered that in order to run this game maxed out 1600x1200/32 you need at least GeForce2 GTS, for 1024x768/32 you're good to go with GeForce256. Porsche 2k starts under DX9 for me. Is there something missing using DX9 for you? I have not played much of nfs5 though but have beat NFS3/4/UG1/UG2/Carbon/MW... I believe NFS 3/4/5 could benefit with EAX soundcard (Soundblaster live!/ audigy). Don't know how your Via chipset would like them though …
