No it's definitely not the gpu, but I wanted to see if resolution had any affect. It doesn't at all, but surely a 1ghz cpu can drive Unreal at 60fps? Same with System Shock 2, I was dipping into the low 40s, and considering the system requirements that seems super low.

I don't understand what's wrong with my setup. I just tried Unreal Gold. and I get highs of 200fps, but if I turn around sometimes I'm getting 48fps constant. That's on 320x200 with everything at minimum settings. Look, just sat there:

Thanks for that Phil, your game certainly seems to run more stable than mine. You get the same dips when explosions happens as I do, but not as extreme. That scene with the shipping containers outside I'm fairly sure would tank my FPS. I'll download the demo and give it a go.

That sounds like a CPU error. Check if the voltages are correct in the bios. If not, does that board have a secondary bios you can load? EDIT: good to see you fixed it!

71fps is the max frame rate if you don't have vsync enabled (weird right) so that's definitely not your max fps. Try max_fps 100 and could you tell me what you get? Newest drivers installed on the bios yep. I tried a third keyboard and that seems to have sorted it. Not sure what could possibly have been the problem that two keyboards don't work and a third did, since they were all USB.

Thanks for the help, I wasn't able to get 1920x1080 working properly, but using that program I switched back to my TI4200 and was able to force 120hz in resolutions like 1024x768 which is more than enough.

It's an iiyama g2773hs, via DVI connection in Win98. The monitor driver is installed yes. I've tried 6.3, 4.3 and 5.3. None have worked.
