Have you checked to make sure that the Synth is not muted with the DOS mixer? Use ESSVOL.EXE to check, and adjust if necessary.

4800 is just a 4200 with AGP 8x it is slower than 4600. Thanks nVidia.

Set it up as an Am486DX2 and try it. You won't damage the chip, and it might just work. It is an AmDX2 with a 4x internal multiplier after all.

Chances are CH-491E is more likely to help you. Yours may just be a 5V/3.3V version.

If no bits are missing you can fix it with a quality plastic cement. If there are bits missing then find a plastic weld filler/glue, or just glue them together with a slow drying super glue & baking soda mix, then sand it down with wet sandpaper.

I would've loved to play Ultima VIII along with (soft of..) someone and share experiences from time to time, as I never actually got past the starting area and first type of magic (necromancy was it?) in this game either. Alas, I have too much on my plate already 😀
