3.47 does not work on Me either SP3 probably installs an update that causes the same issue, install 3.45

Something that tells alot about the cpu bottleneck is that my geforce 7800gs gets 25000 in 3dmark01se on my 2.6Ghz Athlon64 even though it is much slower card than x1950pro. 2.6GHz is about 10% faster than what I have, and 25,000 is about 10% higher than what I get. That's probably 5% due to …

Going from 3200+ to 3700+ is going from 2Ghz to 2.2Ghz. That is only 10% speed increase. You need to go much faster. His cpu is probably 50% faster than yours. if you don't want to overclock perhaps core 2 duo motherboard that has agp slot? Actually 3700+ is 2.4% so it's 20% faster but yeah, it …

Depends on what kind of a 486 you already have; if you have a DX4 with PCI, then yeah there is merit in having a 386 system. But if you have a more modest ISA/VLB 486 SX/DX/DX2 then the Turbo button makes having the 386 kind of pointless. IMO the ease of building and maintaining a P54C Pentium makes …

Freespace 1 and 2 came in 97/98 and are more PII/K6-2 era games if you want decent acceleration. MMX/Voodoo 2 is a fun combination but it kind of has no legs for stuff beyond 1997; so stick to Quake 2 and before or upgrade it to a K6-2/400 I would say.
