Far Cry can't be maxed out on Radeon 9800. Patch 1.3 implemented HDR support, which can't be rendered on Shader Model 2.0 hardware. That's a moving goalpost, by the same token Half Life 2 added HDR with Episode 2 as well. Out of the box Far Cry works just fine with a 9800PRO. Also, you can't max …

WTF those things are (almost all of them) horrendously overpriced. Especially the FX5900, if you pay that kind of money for that junk, faith in humanity -1. If you decide on what you want to buy first, you can find a better offer on pretty much all of them, with a bit of patience.

To elaborate, I am undecided between an Am486DX4-100 32MB system vs a K5-PR166 64MB system.. I want to build a 486 but I'm not sure I will be comfortable with its Warp 4 performance.
