To my recollection of days past, most people used 3dfx cards with their SS7 setup. I'd personally avoid the V3-3500, unless you got one with native VGA out. Using that TV switch box thing is a pain. G400 Max (or TNT2) with V2-SLI also seems like a good era correct setup.

@candle_86 Yes for single CPU. Year 2000 was quite strange in the sense that the dual CPU versions lagged significantly behind the single CPU. 2001 is a whole different story. If you can, take a look at modern motherboard's PCIe 1x slots. The way they are made now is that there is a groove cut at the end of the physical slot. Key is to not touch any of the metal pins. For dremel, it's probably the fastest (and neatest) if you have something that can do it that small.

For practical purposes, pretty much all 3.3V only AGP cards will be bottlenecked by a high end P3 system.
