I'm noticing some are dropping the 20 +4 ATX connector breakaway. Can be fixed with ATX extender cable.

Somebody tried that with Unreal Tournament. And as I recall, on really small maps with 1-2 bots you can squeeze around 10fps.

Not necessarily, they are quite robust and, as example, we had 3.3v/5v capable EDO and SDRAM.

It looks compelling, but wouldn't that small fan be noisy? Use resistor or fan controler to decrease RPM.

Goldfinger is ideal for experiments and/or if you have multiple CPUs. Personally, I would love to have one, because it opens many option to tinker with on the fly.

What remains true is that you are limited to driver versions 40.xx and up with the GF4MX 4xx cards. No, GeForce 4 MX is limited to Detonator 27.20 or higher. And 31.80, if you want AGP 8x support.

CMOS does not behave that way. Very unstable L2 cache or memory usually will hang at this stage. With command prompt in the wrong place, like on the photo above.

That particular board does not like that particular card. Happens. And since it's HP, the board manufacturer is probably ASUS. My ASUS P3B-F is quite picky with video cards too.

In the datasheet they provide bus cycles for both page mode and EDO and there is a difference From my experience with SIS496 PR, the performance between FPM and EDO sticks is literally identical. So even if there are some EDO specific tweaks, most vendors probably didn't bothered to implement them …
