overclocking a x86 CPU by 67% 133 -> 200 = 50%. I really want to see a 486 pushing 200mhz Easy, use liquid nitrogen or wait till winter.

Radeon 7000 and radeon 9250 expecially are more powerful video card and have a lot of vram more than the banshee. ATi drivers are not optimal for such slow CPU and will run horribly.

Depends. Prescott is slower in general, but Prescott G1 can be overclocked pretty far (4ghz and more).

I'm voting Radeon 9250 as long as it's a 128bit card. ATi cards = horrible driver overhead. They are mostly unusable for systems with weak CPU.

Perhaps they didn't select the most optimal driver? I find that I need to test almost all released version to find the best outcome. Most likely scenario. There's also some unofficial S3 drivers for your consideration (and incoming migraine): http://alt.3dcenter.org/treiber/grafikkarten-beta.php

Agreed, Dawn of War was released in 2004 Dawn of War is one of those games which should be played on at least overclocked Athlon 64 X2 AM2/Core 2 Duo and GeForce 6800 or better video card. General rule for most 3D RTS IMHO: hardware must be at least 2 years younger to play it comfortably.

Even with liquid nitrogen you can achieve only around 300mhz.

Not sure what system was used though, sure something faster than a PPRO. Pentium 4, which is must faster. Savage 4 Pro is comparable to TNT2 M64. I settled on a Creative CT6700 Riva TNT 16MB for the primary. Everything up to GeForce 4 MX (or Quadro counterpart) should work too.

Would there be a nice worth while difference going too the xp 3000 over the duron? Not really. Everything that's horrible on overclocked Duron will still be horrible on XP 3000+. Unlike Celeron to Pentium performance gap, Duron is much closer to Athlon.

3dfx or Nvidia with early drivers (TNT2 or GeForce 2 MX), maybe S3 Savage4 Pro, those are fine too. Pentium Pro is quite weak to handle driver overhead (Matrox, ATi), but not slow enough to justify something like Riva128 or Permedia 2. On paper the KX133 was faster, but had lots of issues It's equal to its 694X counterpart and mostly on par with 440BX. Thunderbird is not officially supported though.
