Exactly. Although there is a market for refitting old 4:3 professional LCD monitors with LED lamps, which is targeted for small business. One more reason to pick specific model which already has a conversion kit.

AUO one is a VA variant No, it's IPS in all but name, just like Samsung PLS was. Most sites classify AUO AHVA panels as IPS too.

The AUO G213UAN01.0 (or more likely a higher end variant thereof, based on gamut specs) looks like it might be the panel that is used . It has 1800:1 contrast in specs, which is suspiciously high for a non-LG panel.

It's not targeted for average Joe to begin with. But at least it has IPS Black, probably with ATW polariser.

Aren't those models equipped with slow panels ? ( that means trails - ghosting on fast paced games ) 1) You will get blur anyway. Fast 4:3 panels practically do not exist, because 1600x1200 were all 60Hz with sample and hold , without any fancy black frame insertion. 2) All monitors of that time …

Keep in mind that pass through cable does not affect V2 picture quality during 3D output, unless it's broken in some way. For 2D, that cable is absolutely redundant and multiple video inputs or VGA switch are better choices.

You need at least GTX 295 for modest performance with all bells and whistles. 8800GTX SLI can run Crysis adequately on High setting with 1280x720 resolution.

There's not much you can do with a scaling algorithm if pixel density does not match specific ratios. For example, decent picture can be achieved with 1.5x ratio, but not with 1.6x.

Most 4:3 1600x1200 panels can't handle 70Hz DOS modes without skipping frames. You can skip 70Hz VGA mode and force 60 Hz with TSR, but some games are tied to 70Hz timings and will work slower. I trust Felix video more. Microsoft were acting like they didn't knew how FCPGA chips work. Early Xbox 360 revisions were pushing thermal stress a bit too far. And ATi had no major issues with Radeon X1800/X1900 series, despite been manufactured at the same time period.
