TNT2 M64 Vanta - less driver jank. Could be slower, depending on your Savage 4 specs, which vary wildly.

Faking is nearly useless, because it's easy to spot with such peculiar hardware, not like some sealed Nuntinder game for gullible boomers. And making working replica would require blueprints for original engineering samples or doing it from scratch, which will look different anyway.

Windows ME is Windows 98SE with installed bloatware, gimped DOS mode and questionable stability with VXD driver model. Hardly best what 9x can offer =P

GeForce 1060 has to decent Vulkan support, which can fix some issues with older games via DXVK.

Edit: Don't forget about a dedicated 2D graphics core for good GDI performance. Geforce 6 and up do use a 3D core only, afaik. Geforce FX was the last one with a dedicated 2D core. Win2k drivers are less game friendly, because Matrox quickly bailed out from gaming market and NT systems had different priorities. Unreal Tournament Direct3D is problematic to run decently on many cards.

The x86 version will give me some 16-bit compatibility Core 2 Duo can run DOSBOX just fine. And you'll cut yourself off from some modern utilities which do not have 32-bit variants or were dropped long time ago.
