How much does input voltage affect output voltage of this kind of power supply? Back in 80s we had 220V and that is what the roland power supply is meant for and nowadays it is 230V and if I use multimeter to wall outlet, I get result of 229V.

My 486 33Mhz is the quietest pc I have. It could be because it has a 10Gb ide hard drive though. Hard drive is probably at least some years newer than a 486 is suppose to have, but I wanted more room for old dos games.

Not really in hurry, I was just checking if it was working. So far I have tested doom and duke3d with general midi settings. (I know general midi doesn't sound right) and both give me sound. I just tested the unit for the first time. I assume it is normal to get really low volume when you connect headphones directly to it? It will be couple days until I get audio cable for it.

I just got my first MT-32 today and it came with a power supply from 1989. It is meant for the old 220V and we use 230V nowadays. It is suppose to be 9V and 1000mah power supply and I measured output voltage as 14.28V without load using multimeter. Is it safe to connect it to the MT-32 unit? I don't …

Old computers rarely show up for sale where I live, so I generally don't have many to choose from. Of course I would much rather find 286 with standard AT motherboard and standard power supply so that it would be easier to replace parts in it.

Is there any point in buying 80s oem pc that doesn't have standard psu and even the power connector on the motherboard isn't standard AT? Even if the pc would work right now, I assume there would be no way of getting spare parts for such old PC, right? 30 years old pc would most likely not last very …

For me the most quiet pc that I have is also the oldest pc I have built. The newer the pc, the more fans there is making noise.

Well, like I said in my first post, I am planning to use microsoft usb mouse that says that it supports ps/2 protocol at bottom of the mouse 😀

From my experience the newer the computer that you try to run dos in, less free space you have in high memory to load stuff in config.sys and autoexec.bat. At least that applies to all computers I have built.

First links game released in 1990 had sound blaster option in system menu. Again I could not find out when in 1990 it was released.
