Apart from SSE, there's no difference between a PII and a PIII (Katmai core). The BIOS may simply not know the PIII. Doesn't really matter, as it will still work without any issues.

GeForce 4 MX460 is a 8x card (0.8 V) whereas the BX chipset only supports AGP 1.0 with 3.3V. While the GeForce 4 MX460 can also work with 4x (1.5V), it can not work with 3.3V.

Does it work when you just enter the BIOS instead of booting the OS? If this happens with two different drives, it might be software-locked.

That should be correct. Diamond released an almost exact version of that card, with the exception that the connectors were on the add-on card, which also came with a new bracket with the cut-outs for these. Without the MPEG add-on, those connectors won't do anything. The ViRGE chip itself does not …

Shocked by the responses on the pin thing. Just use a needle/paper board pin/anything similar to open the pin hole on the cable. I had cables where the blocked pin was massive and not just a thin cover that you could open with a needle. You would need a hot needle or a driller for that. Much easier …

I wonder what people do with their hardware. Since 1997, not a single of my ISA/PCI/whatever cards have failed. Well, one did, an S3 ViRGE. However, when I tested it years later, it was working fine. So I don't count it.

You need to run setup.exe from the Windows folder from DOS. Then select a mouse from the list. Trying to do that from the Windows-based setup will ask for a third-party driver disk. Also, mouse drivers for DOS will not work. You can't use ctmouse.exe and the like for Windows.

The serial port headers had no normalised pin-out, so you need to get the correct one for your 486, resolder it, or just try other ones until you find one that works.

Normally, it only asks for oemsetup.inf if you select a mouse driver that does not come with Windows. What type of mouse did you select in the setup?

In that case, trash OnTrack and switch to EZ-Drive. That one does not mess with the partition format and gives you a properly working card.
