Does it hang or does it show that no OS was found? In the later case, boot order might be wrong and it tries to boot from the formatted partition.

that does not work due to the use of ontrack dm. Did you actually try it? On-Track Disk Manager only adds some code to provide LBA, which is how a card reader will access the card as well. I used EZ-Drive for larger CF cards in older systems and had no issues when transfering data using a card …

Got a lot of nice stuff this week. Best things came today: IMG_20180824_181550784.jpg Philips CD-i 470 (already have a huge CD-i collection, wanted this model badly), the corresponding MPEG card, and Ultima Trilogy for FM TOWNS complete and in nice condition.

You could get rid of the network card, as you are using a CF card anyway, which you can just remove and copy data from/to it using a card reader.

UDVD2.SYS However, I'm using OAKCDROM.SYS mostly as well, as it's the only one that just always works, especially with older drives.

The decoder card is not the problem here, but bus speed. The Creative card uses the same EM8300 decoder chip anyway. Maybe Windows 95 can't handle all that as good as 98 or NT. Also, a Cyrix 5x86 is not a 486.

Tried today, but no dice. With the X5 running at 160 MHz, it is *just* fast enough to decode MPEG-1 using the card without stuttering (which is pointless, as it can do that in software only anyway). DVD is completely unusable. At least over IDE, there's no way for the CPU to push data from the DVD …

The labels are askew, and disc 2 label text is not centered. That's more of a proof against a fake. If someone would fake the labels, why would he be so sloppy? Fakes are - in most cases - too perfect. Back then, labels or printings on diskettes were always imperfect. Just look at games from Origin …

All you need to do is to install the "[MCI] Audio CD" driver that comes with Windows 3.1. After that, you can play Audio CDs with the Media Player. I recommend installing Video for Windows first to get an updated version of the Media Player.

That's an MFM controller. All three headers are for hard disks. The larger one is daisy-chained, the smaller ones are for one drive each. There's normally nothing to set by jumpers. I'm pretty sure the jumper is for connecting an activity LED.
