Re: OPL3LPT : OPL3 FM Synthesis on parallel port

I am trying the nopatch option now. First attempt with Pinball Fantasies is unsuccessfull :( Sound was set to maximum quality in setsound and the game is quite slowed down still. On the plus side the sound seems to be slightly less slower than before on that quality setting, game is still a …

Re: OPL3LPT : OPL3 FM Synthesis on parallel port

Hello everyone! I got my OPL3LPT in the mail today and have been testing out some games with the Adlipt sound driver that comes with the latest v0.7.0 pack on github. Most games I have tested sound great and are working: 4D Sports Boxing (has samples for sound effects kinda like soundblaster!) …

Re: DSS / Covox Speech Thing exclusive games

Thanks you again, Artigkar! It's a bug in DOSBox, I suppose. Disabling the PC-Speaker often helps in that case. Not sure why it happens. Perhaps one of the timer's channels is in use and audible by accident. I could not get it to work in dosbox even with pc speaker disabled, but it does not matter …

Re: DSS / Covox Speech Thing exclusive games

I wonder if there is anything special with that LifeSize Sound Enhancer. I tested Leather Goddesses of Phobos 2 and it supports both digital sound and music with that card plus some other cards like Disney Sound Source and a sound blaster. Unfortunately in dosbox choosing LifeSize Sound Enhancer …

Re: DSS / Covox Speech Thing exclusive games

Ok, so this does not really count as a covox exclusive game. But I discovered that the 2.0 release of the game Ports of Call supports a printer dac for digital sound. I also noticed this is not mentioned on the mobygames page. Here is a screenshot attached from dosbox showing the sound options:

Re: DSS / Covox Speech Thing exclusive games

There is one thing I have discovered something related to the Covox a few weeks ago that I have not seen been mentioned in this thread. Have any of you heard of the Intersound MDO? Apparently it was a parallel port soundcard similar to the covox. The CVX4 and other covox clones are compatible with …

Re: OPL2LPT

The list is mostly of games I have tested the last year on my 486 laptop without a soundcard that I have not seen confirmed working with opl2lpt until now. The list may be a little strange, but my computer is very limited: only 25mhz and 4mb of ram. Raptor runs really well on it for example, but of …

Re: OPL2LPT

Hello, not sure if anyone has asked anything similar in this thread before. But I wondered if the following classic dosgames are confirmed working with the OPL2LPT: - 4D Sports Boxing (1991) - Blackthorne (1994) - Blake Stone Aliens of Gold (1993) - Blake Stone Planet Strike (1994) - Day of the …

Re: CVX-2 : covox adapter

I tested out a extension cable I had earlier today and it works. Before I did that I did a small alteration to the hole. I cut off the thin top part of it to see if that was enough to make the speaker cable fit. It was not. Anyway its working now without buzz, as you can see in this video I uploaded …

Re: CVX-2 : covox adapter

The underside is oddly spiky compared to the image on the webstore page for CVX4. :exclamation: Anyway, I have tested it without the printed enclosure and the buzz from the speakers is gone. It seems its only when its trapped in the enclosure that the buzz is there. Maybe if the hole for the …

Re: CVX-2 : covox adapter

1: opening the case : gently lift the case sideways. How gently is gently here? It won't budge, it sits very tight and I am just trying to open with my hands. With that said I have looked a bit more closely on the hole for the 3.5mm audiojack on the card. It seems like the hole for it in the …

Re: CVX-2 : covox adapter

So it is unfortunate that the buzzing sound occurs since it other than this issue seems like an upgrade. Hi 1/ is the 3.5mm stereo connector fully inserted ? your connector looks pretty thick on the video, maybe it obstructs with the 3d enclosure ? 2/ can you tell me de dip switch settings ? dip 8 …

Re: CVX-2 : covox adapter

Hi everyone! I just got my CVX4 and printed enclosure in the mail yesterday. I did not expect the CVX4 card to be inside the enclosure already, but it was. Pretty cool, thumbs up for that! I bought the CVX4 to replace my older covox clone that I got a year ago, thought it would be a nice sound …
