Re: I'm Looking for a List of Software That Can Make a Full Disk Backup of Windows 98 SE and XP that Runs on Modern OSes

Not sure if any Windows backup programs create images that are compatible with other tools. All of the ones I have tried in the past (many years ago) saved to proprietary formats. IMO this limits your options with the backup image. After I found dd I didn't need anything else. :P DD backups are very …

Re: DOS 7.1 mount NAS share

I got it wotking without using a bridge. I was missing the Microsoft Network Client for DOS. The drivers consume 135-140k conventional ram, and tcptsr alone uses 79k! Can some of them be removed from autoexec? Now for the iso files i plan to use i will have to rename them in 8.3 format 😀

DOS 7.1 mount NAS share

I've been searching for a while if and how this can be done. I have a hard drive attached to my router, and this drive contains backup images of all my software floppies and CDs. On my Win7 and Win9x machines I use DaemonTools to mount the images. In DOS there is SHSUCD that can do the same. My DOS …

Re: I'm Looking for a List of Software That Can Make a Full Disk Backup of Windows 98 SE and XP that Runs on Modern OSes

Re: Ensoniq / Creative AudioPCI

I know this is an old thread but it has helped me a lot with my own card and I feel I should share my own experience on this topic. I put a SB PCI128, CT4700 with 5507 chip, into my Win98 box. It has a Biostar M7VIG400 which has no ISA slots thus it can only use a PCI sound card. I got it to work in …

Re: OS/2 Warp 4.52 hanging during boot

Thanks again, Jo22. You give me some new ideas. Today I tested a theory regarding disk geometry. In the BIOS I specified the geometry and set to NORMAL then did a clean install. It won't even begin to boot on NORMAL, only on LBA, then on LBA the same problem occurs. The box my CF-IDE adapter came in …

Re: OS/2 Warp 4.52 hanging during boot

Thank you, Jo22. Those are interesting ideas. I did not REM the driver in config.sys since, as posted in the other thread, it did not solve his similar problem. (c) is interesting. I could try to boot from the floppy to do chkdsk. My OS/2 is installed as a single HPFS partition. (d) is a lot like …
