The memory chips on mine don't really need it, they don't get very hot compared to the VRM. Even the main chip stays fairly sane. For the VRM heatsink, I just bought a second heatsink and used a longer screw to attach it to the solder side of the PCB, so it can wick heat off the PCB and the screw. …

I should post pics of my PCI Voodoo3 3000. the green PCB near the VRM is notably brown, and the conformal coating is brittle at the edges. I recently replaced it with a higher-rated Texas Instruments VRM and added an additional heatsink to the other side of the card, so it's actually not so hot …

Eh, the SiS 305 isn't a great card, it's more of a...there card. Real life performance would be about that of an ATi Rage Pro or an nVidia Riva128. As for it being useful...eh, well, it's a good reason to send an S3 Virge to the landfill, right? Dos compatibilty should be better than ATi cards? …

While all Voodoos SHOULD work fine with stock cooling, please feel free to improve on it or at least make sure a case fan is blowing fresh air over it. Their chips are meant to handle the heat, but the PCB really isn't. It WILL damage the PCB eventually. This is especially true with the PCI …
