It would be enough to explain those people that the particular piece of hardware they have in hand might have a value of two dollars in gold it contains, but they can as well sell it on eBay for ten or hundred times more.

Well if your NIC can support a PXE boot rom, that means the computer has PCI slots, meaning you don't really need XT-IDE bios Unless you're using an ISA NIC with gPXE, in that case you don't need PCI. I've never tried it so far, but I am expecting a diskless 386SX and I am eager to try it. The …

If it's a mechanical USB switch, it should work. If it's an electronic switch, it probably won't work, although it depends on how the switching is done - if there are analog switches, it still might work.
