Re: V2 SLI at 1024 isn't looking too good

The question is why did they disable it? Good question. Because based on the other screenshots I see around the net, other users don't have this problem so at least with the drivers they're using, it probably isn't disabled. FastVoodoo does do some unique things though, in order to get mismatched …

Re: ATI Truform patches

thanks for the link, I was looking for the UT patch to try out! After trying everything (and after also finding the Deus Ex version on my own), I can really only get the UT version to work. Even then there's graphical corruption where this big stretch polygon appears in front of your gun randomly. …

Re: Descent won't work in DOS

So, it works under Win98, but not under Win98 pure DOS mode? Did you try to start up Win98 DOS with startup files skipped (F5 at startup), as opposed to creating DOS 6.22 bootdisk? I suppose I could try that (I think it's called DOS Safe Mode or something). I didn't mean that it doesn't work with …

ATI Truform patches

I tried searching for a while for these but they seem to have vanished from the internet. I'm referring to patches that were made for the likes of Quake 1 and Quake 2, to enable Truform support. The patches are called Truquake and Truquake2. There's also TruUt for Unreal Tournament, which I wouldn't …

Re: V2 SLI at 1024 isn't looking too good

...and yet I fixed the problem by my last post lol. Setting SSTV2_VIDEO_FILTER_DISABLE to 0 was what did it. 1024 must have been toggling it on so by turning it off all the colour banding goes away and it looks good again. I also tried AA, which didn't hurt anything and 24BPP caused artifacts as …

Descent won't work in DOS

I'm trying to get Descent 1 to run in real DOS (prior to OS boot using GUI = 0 option) on a WIndows 98 rig. However I'm getting a general protection fault 2001 at 0DH with DOS4GW. According to the internet this is not a rare problem or anything but I can't get a clear answer on how to fix it. There …

Re: V2 SLI at 1024 isn't looking too good

That's gamma correction bug. Try to set all three gamma sliders to 1.0 intead of default 1.3. This should help. Unfortunately, that didn't change anything except reducing brightness as expected. The fact that it looks just fine in 800 makes me think that this is just some environment variable …

Re: V2 SLI at 1024 isn't looking too good

"24BPP" is a filter toggle as far as I can tell. The only antialiasing you generally ever see is the edge AA on the 3dfx splash logo. We had the explanation in this thread: (dither) https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=36548&p=318462#p318583 (24bpp) https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=46 …

Re: V2 SLI at 1024 isn't looking too good

Oh... well then. I don't suppose there's a way to at least cheat the colours back to looking ok, is there? I heard FastVoodoo drivers support anti-aliasing. If I have to stay with 800x600 maybe I could just enable this to improve visual quality a bit. How do you enable AA? I didn't see it in the …

V2 SLI at 1024 isn't looking too good

I'm not sure if it was always like this or not - can't remember from the last time I ran this machine. I noticed when I was testing UT99 in SLI mode. I set the resolution to 1024x768 initially and noticed how horrible the game looked. On closer inspection it seems there are 2 issues: 1) The colour …
