That board has a socketed DIP-32 EEPROM. If the BIOS flash goes wrong, just pop it off and flash it somewhere else. An EEPROM programmer (eg TL866) is best, but you can hot-flash on another motherboard if needs be. Which P3-500 do you have on the board? If it's Coppermine, you should be good already …

Thanks, that clear things up a bit. I had an AWE32 back then, it was a good card. @1541 - I wasn't aware of those altenatives ;) I think I'll definitely look for a PnP card. There are a lot more alternatives. Creative's SB16 were all buggy in some way or another, some a lot better than others …
