It's called "vignetting", otherwise known as failure of the CCFL backlight, losing gas like a 240V used to in the day. Options are to find a better LCD, or work out someway to remove the CCFL backlighting and replace, with same or LED strip lights.

+ another vote for it'll work fine with generic drivers for your SCSI card. Keep in mind the Apple CD300 and CD600 aren't great reading anything but original discs, they struggle with burnt media. 12 - 24X Apple SCSI drivers are very reliable and read anything.

The original Apple Airport card only works with WPA and below. You can get USB adapters that support WPA2 and encryption, notably the Edimax EW-7811Un which is cheaply available.

Surely you just need the right driver instead of flashing a new BIOS onto the cards - what is that going to achieve? Also, the Mac editions of the card won't POST if placed into a PC, due to a significantly different firmware setup.
