Re: A couple of retros I'm working on.

Okay, I dumped the BIOS /VGA roms, copied them to a floppy, copied them from the floppy to the dos/wfw machine, copied them over the network to my desktop. During the copy of BIOS.BIN from floppy, I got a read error. I ignored it and the copy completed. The VGA dump was fine and is virtually …

Re: A couple of retros I'm working on.

Well, I tried running the Hiterm terminal program, and I can't really figure out how to get it to talk to Hyperterm on my PC. I think it was specifically designed for prom burning or similar functions. But I did confirm that the left-alt key is dead :( I did copy the files to floppy, and tomorrow …

Re: A couple of retros I'm working on.

IanB, I ran DEBUG along with the commands you instructed. It created two files; BIOS.BIN and VGA.BIN. Both are 64k in size. Now I have to figure out how to get them off that machine and onto my main computer so I can upload it. (I've an old K6-300 desktop running DOS 6.22/WFW3.11 on my network, but …

Re: A couple of retros I'm working on.

Memory Test... so I guess I have an Award BIOS? Seems that way, but that's a different looking BIOS again and appears to be from 1990 (the existing patched ones are both from 1989) I'd like to see a dump of that BIOS and the VGA BIOS as well. You can do that from the debug prompt, type the …

Re: A couple of retros I'm working on.

Hey, IanB... that screenshot you gave... it shows the bios looking for a master and a slave hard drive. Would the updated rom allow for more than one hard drive? (assuming we used an appropriate cable). Cause it would be great to have a larger capacity drive in the drive bay (even CF) and a 2nd CF …

Re: A couple of retros I'm working on.

Ack... all that rom burning sounds scary. My video bios is Phoenix on my T5200, so I assume the bios is also Phoenix. I worked up the courage to open the back and remove the network card. It's an artisoft card, and no boot ROM installed. I ordered the paradise max ide controller, so I suppose I …
