Dosbox has its own DOS implementation. You could get hold of a copy of MS DOS and use its qbasic.exe and edit.com (the latter uses the former). Can you post high res pictures of back and front? So one can visually inspect for damage/missing components. Also are you sure you plugged into the right audio jack? I once plugged my speakers into the line in... Try CAREFULLY pushing on components while playing music to figure out if there are any …

Are those two DSUB9 connectors for joysticks? I could probably make a few ISA brackets for those. I have access to a DSUB9 stencil and a step drill for the audio jack. Would need a PCB of course... 😉

Thanks to Keropi I now have an original Creative DSP V2.02 (I think) to put on my Snark Barker. I think it will not change much, but it's nice to try out. I will also try to make an ISA bracket. MCGA is actually worse. The MCGA support is in there for the PS1 systems which had MCGA, and which in turn does not support the 640x200 16 color EGA mode, but only the 2 color 640x200 CGA mode. 320x200 16 color modes were emulated by MCGA games using mode 13, which is 320x200 with 256 colors.
