C2d came out in 2006 and XPSP3 didn't launch until 2008. Extended suppot for xp ended in 2014. Considering POS 2009 which is the same thing as XP Sp3, extended support didn't end until April 9, 2019. Gratz, I saw the listing. Fair price. They are probably worth twice that. Just no one knows about them becasue of rarity. If you want drivers, let me know. I've modded several. I think i still have the firmware to make the DVD drive region free as well, if that intrests you.

what revision is your board. I have heard of running them a 33mhz bus speed, instead of 25. Maybe it could run at 40mhz if you are lucky. Are you sure the board doesn't have a 33 mhz FSB jumper? That CPU won't work a 66mhz fsb. 63=25 × 2.5 83=33 x 2.5 165=66 x 2.5 <------------will never work. …

maybe thats not the OG CPU and somone just got it to work in there at that speed somhow. Some systems can run a DX4 and 50X2.

Why he would use "retro" system for modern games, when he already started, that he have multiple Win 10 machines? I am more thinking, why would he use such a retro system to run windows 7. It has PCI so it can run Audigy 2 ZS or XFI as they are intended and 7 has no hardware sound acceleration. …

Seventeam PSU's of that vintage are better quality than Fortron/Source of that vintage. They are the best Taiwanese PSU.

Thanks LB. I have 2 SL4BS cpus. https://www.cpu-world.com/sspec/SL/SL4BS.html those have on die cache, theres doesn't seem to be overclocking options for or840, at least not on the Intel/IBM/reference motherboard. The north bridge one might work with elbo fittings for the hoses.

Thats the problem many of those games are CPU speed sensitive as well as needing ISA cards. Those 2 things blow a hole into your whole plan there. you are not going to be able to make a overpowered rig that runs XP games at 1600x1200 and do that too. If you want to just do like 1994+its doable.
