Re: Roland MT-32 power supply.

Basically the more voltage you put into something, the more heat has to be given off to drop it down. So I began to notice this more with my old Sega Model 1 Genesis. Been fine for years, and then I got a Sega CD model 1 to add to it. I noticed one day when I left the sega CD bios screen just up and …

Re: Roland MT-32 power supply.

Should be fine, the amperage and polarity are whats most important along with the voltage. All unregulated PSUs without a load are going to read higher than they are rated at. The Idea is that they maintain that voltage when there is a load pulling on them. Heck I have several sega PSUs that are 9v …

Re: Roland MT-32 power supply.

Was going to add that if you don't have a power supply for these, that a Sega Genesis or in your case a model 1 megadrive power supply will work. Yes it has more amps, but that isn't a problem. I was using my MT-200 and MT-32 for about a week or so with a sega power supply until I got actual Roland …

Re: Roland Sound Canvas Sc-50

Well I was using MUNT for the past couple of years, but decided to pick up an actual MT-32 about a month ago as I was able to snag one for about $70 shipped. Anyway, I can tell you that to my ears I can hear a definite difference between what I was listening to under MUNT and what it actually sound …

Re: Roland Sound Canvas Sc-50

The SC-88 Pro has "MT-32 mode", don't have an original 88 though. The 88-Pro lists it as "C/M Mode" (Computer Music), and is meant to be compatible with CM-64. You might be surprised how often you can find this option. Even much later modules like the Yamaha MU128 have a C/M Mode. Sometimes they …

Re: Roland Sound Canvas Sc-55 and x68000 emulator

I've gotten the x68k emulator itself running without issues through my MT-200. Not an actual SC-55 but as long as long as I make sure that my UM-ONE mk2 is the primary MIDI device in windows, the emu will see the MT-200 as a valid SC device (Because it is...) and use it just fine. I've not tested …

Re: Roland Sound Canvas Sc-50

Far as I know only the original SC-55 has an MT-32 mode and even still it doesn't have the ability to load up the custom patches and just relies on the default sound bank of the MT-32. That means, that while it might map to the MT-32 channels properly for the games that were MT-32 only, it still …

Re: Roland MT-200

Thanks for doing all of those videos! If there is any possible way to get a copy of the 2.01 firmware from your MT-200, I'd love to get my hands on that. I wish I could but I've not access to a rom programmer to read it from. I have a second MT-200 that has a rev 2.00 firmware on it and is older …

Re: Roland MT-200

Part 3 of my MT-200 basic tutorial is done and upped to YouTube. In this final video segment featuring the MT-200 I go through the basic hardware needed to connect it to a modern Windows10 computer and show my setups for ScummVM and DosBOX to use it. Finally I show how I have the MT-200 connected to …

Re: Roland MT-200

I found documentation online about this unit. Is it a good one to have for GM/GS games? I'd like to have that unit for games (for my Packard Bell Pack-Mate 28 Plus and another retro machine). Is there a KVM switch box that uses the 5-pin 180 degree DIN, and would it be possible to hook up multiple …

Re: CoolSoft MIDIMapper

I will uninstall MidiMapper tonight and put virtualsynth back in and see as you could be correct in that I only had the midi device selector and perhaps not the midi out option. on the AV stuff, I believe a large update to Windows 10 came out over the weekend or at least I know my windows defender …

Re: CoolSoft MIDIMapper

Current versions of VirtualMidiSynth cannot do the same thing on Win8/10 as CoolSoft MIDIMapper because of the completely missing default midi mapper. Not true, up until about a week ago, I still had virtualsynth installed and was using it on my Win10 - 64bit to select various soundfonts for use. I …
