Re: eisapc collection presentation

For what I remeber the difference of between the Proliant 2000/4000 and the 4500 is mainly the onboard wide SCSI of the 4500 while the previous models hade only narrow SCSI. But there might be some more microcode updates as there are two labeled chips on the CPU boards, while the layout is the same. …

eisapc collection presentation

For the beginning I will post some info on my Compaq Proliant 4500 I started seting up last night. Its not a gaming rig, but an ancient fileserver. Specs are as follows: 4x P100 CPU on separate CPU boards 16 slots of PS/2 memory currently holding 192 MB of parity SIMMs onboard wide SCSI and SVGA …

Re: HP 9000 C110

Nice box. Only handicap of the C110 is the use of HVD SCSI drives which allmost cannot be found anywhere. For this reason I gave away my C110, but kept 712, 715, B180, C200, C360, and C3700. But kept the J210 which is a HVD SCSI box as well but with dual PARISC it is much rarer than a C-class. Btw, …

Re: The Compaq Systempro LT

If I remember right it needn´t be the original Compaq branded drives as long as the geometry is identical to the Compaq drives. I successfully used somecompatible seagate drives (ST660A?). I found it much harder finding the original cable (layout); connecting two 40 pin IDE drives to a single 50 pin …

Re: Need Help on Whether, and If So, How to Go About Replacing the PS/2 "Hub" on Motherboard

Problem is to remove the old socket from the board. I´d recommed cutting it off with a Dremel and remove the pins one by one, or use a heatgun to remove it complete. I had good experience with cleaning the empty holes with a solder sucker first and open them up from solder remains with a Dremel …

Re: ISA based 3D accelerators?

One more ISA 3D-board not mentioned yet ist the SPEA Fire board, featuring the intel i860 RISC processor. The board was availiable as a 3D add on board or as a daugterboard for the SPEA-FGA TIGA boards, together building the FGA-860. Both variants are full size ISA boards featuring up to 4 MB RAM …

Re: The Compaq Systempro LT

Congrats, to the LT. You know the CPU board and memory board are the same as the Deskpro/M series? Probably upgrade is possible up to P60, but can´t confirm as my one and only P60 board is broken. Memory is PS/2 with parity up to 64MB total and up to 8MB/Simm. Still have to post the group picture of …
