Did you load the ASPI driver in DOS? As far as I know Adaptec SCSI controllers, I expect different results.

Very important: Do not trust what processor type and speed is printed on screen by your BIOS after POST. I strongly recommend using benchmark programs like CTCM 1.7 (from heise) to verify clock and multipicator settings.

That means 4 terminations for that. 50 and 68 are on separate buses unless that card is done in such way via one chipset which might be issues. Or trying to share both buses on one chipset which could be another issue. Best way is find a scsi controller that has 1 chipset per bus or run two …

This depends on chipset I guess. On Pentium 2/3's the 440BX chipset is capable to mix ECC and non-ECC, but it is SDRAM. However, I am not sure whether it operates the bank(s) with the ECC module in ECC mode at all.

A busmaster SCSI controller is almost a must if you really try to run Windows 95 on a 386SX. I'm running a 20 MHz 386SX and it was a huge difference switching from IDE to the Adaptec 1542B.

What FSB are you running? Which cache timing? I also can imagine that a broken address line may cause the problem; I'm not sure. What happens with 1x32 MB or 1x16MB?
