Re: Intel smashes Ryzen

The AMD CPU was NOT much less expensive abut about 75% of the Intel equivalent. And so this trend has continued. AMD has always been the Budget CPU when compared to Intel equivalent. How can you call them the Budget CPU when Zen 3 is beating Intel whatever-the-hell-Lake across the board , including …

Re: Ruined memory of an old game by playing it!

in DOS
I actually like old, bad games :P. So even when I revisit something from my childhood that is terrible, that is part of the fun. There is one I can remember though. My son is going through a Star Wars faze so I booted up the Force Unleashed. I had played it twice before and remember rather liking it …

Re: Best WinXP Video Card

Good question. I am not sure if using ALchemy will restore EAX if you do not have the compatible sound card. Probably not though. But check this out: https://github.com/kcat/dsoal About ===== This project is for a DirectSound DLL replacement. It implements the DirectSound interfaces by translating …

Do they work with all games that expect EAX support in hardware? Good question. I am not sure if using ALchemy will restore EAX if you do not have the compatible sound card. Probably not though. But check this out: https://github.com/kcat/dsoal About ===== This project is for a DirectSound DLL …

Re: Best WinXP Video Card

Whats the difference between OpenAL and ALChemy? Do they need specific sound cards to work with? Do they work with all games that expect EAX support in hardware? I think openAL is an extension of ALchemy. I installed it recently and it required OpenAL from creative and then I had to install a dll …

God Of Gaming wrote on 2021-01-15, 17:53: isn't it that begining with Vista they removed hardware acceleration trough directsound, but hardware acceleration is still working trough openal? openAL is all software I'm pretty sure. I don't know how it wouldn't be.

Re: Best WinXP Video Card

The only difference between sound cards using OpenAL and ALchemy will be in the EQ. All of them emulate EAX entirely in software. Beginning in windows vista Microsoft removed the ability for software to talk directly to the sound card so none of them are hardware accelerated.

Some new rumours regarding the 11900k. Looks like a Taiwenese or Chinese person may have their hands on a review sample and have leaked benchmarks (take with a truck load of salt) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvQyzLfFnoY&feature=emb_logo https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50832523747_54cf6b0775 …

Re: What is faster in games? Celeron tualatin 1300@1733 (133FSB) or Pentium 3-S 1400 (133FSB) ?

I actually tried this with a Celeron-1400 back in the day. Had it running at 1866/133, and at that speed it could match the stock-clocked PIII-S 1400 in some benchmarks. In others, the PIII was ahead. The Celeron also required some enormous voltage to get to 1866, and actually quit working after a …

Re: Intel smashes Ryzen

I have a Ryzen 3600 processor. I have had no issues with the SATA controller. I couldn't figure out how to get the built in RAID controller to work but otherwise I have had no issues. I have definitely read about unsupported or poorly implemented features with AMD platforms. Mostly niche stuff, but …
