Re: I wish I had discovered Windows ME sooner!

Interesting, thanks. I didn't know this story. But at the end the system.ini tweak is enough? Anyway it would not solve the errors during the boot installation of the o.s. when more than 512MB but anyway it'd be a good thing for a multi o.s. machine that run the same amount of ram without changing …

Re: I wish I had discovered Windows ME sooner!

But didn't it have the same 512MB ram limitation of the cache of previous Win9x? I always used it with 512MB for that reason cause I never liked the many unofficial tweaks for the ram problem cause I don't know how stable they are. There was apparently a vendor Microsoft listened to that allowed 2G …

Re: I wish I had discovered Windows ME sooner!

There are things I like about windows Millennium I'd like to share. More memory capacity - I have run it on a 2GB RAM system; I have patched it to support up to 4gb. Updated file system features - FDISK FORMAT can see larger disks, windows defrag fastest out of all windows 9x editions. UPNP - Easily …

Re: AGP GPU for windows 98 fe se and windows 2000

Geforce FX series is worth a look . The FX 5500 with 128-bit RAM is decent as an entry level card . If you want faster, there are higher end models that are costlier and require more power . Though they have Directx 9 support, only the FX5900 and higher really work for that . They are pretty much …

Re: AGP GPU for windows 98 fe se and windows 2000

So then its a Direct X 7 GPU for a pentium III machine well that should be cheaper surely. Lucky 7 sexy? i sure could use some luck .... i have struck out Geforce 4 Ti4200 its to damn expensive. My pentium 3 mobo can use 1,2,3,4x AGP (sideband) at 3.3v This is a temporary thing for me running 98se …

Re: AGP GPU for windows 98 fe se and windows 2000

I would say, that whole FX lineup is big no-no for DX9 games. Though, for PIII DX9 games should be out if question anyway. And also PIII would bottlenecks those faster FX or 9000 series cards like crazy. Just speculatively the very notion of FX as advertising for sexy effects coincides with MMX II …
