It is setup as a 486dx2-66 but what make CPU I can not confirm because the jumpers to select the CPU brand are missing and the manual lists nothing about this only that Cyrix/Intel/AMD are supported.

Ugh ! ...I have some of those micronics motherboards in Gateway 2000 486 desktop computers. I hate that bios. I have only been able to get one to work. Those motherboards are very limited. These VLB motherboards at least have a better bios.

I tried a CD-ROM drive but none was detected. So I tired a secondary hard-drive on second IDE channel but none was detected by the BIOS. Yes, I think the bios supports multiple IDE channels. The primary hard-drive was detected fine so was the floppy drive, serial ports and parallel port. I disabled …

This motherboard I am using is strange. The manual reads that there is an option to switch between CPU brands. ( AMD/Intel/Cyrix) but when I look at the motherboard those jumper are missing. I can seem to get this card to work. I need the correct manual for it. I think it was made by a Canadian company. It is an Acculogic sIDE-4/VI VLB controller card.

Not having 4 sticks of ram in my original choice of motherboard may have been why it would not post. As I only had 2 sticks of ram in it. Duh !

Well, I set it up with the same settings as an Intel 486dx2-66mhz. And it appears to be working fine ? I understand it was manufactured by Cyrix but is it of the same die or clone as a Intel 486dx2-66 ?

I could not find any information on this controller. It has some settings silkscreened on the controller but not all. I can not get the secondary IDE port to work. Some controller setting must be conflicting with it.

What would you set this IBM CPU as ? A Cyrix CPU or Intel CPU in motherboard settings ? Would you consider this a Cyrix 486dx2-66 ? Or An Intel 486dx2-66 ?

This motherboard is strange. It has some jumper options fixed and I am not sure what the settings are. It is if this motherboard was only designed for certain CPU’s. Well, I could not get the last 486 motherboard to post so I have a NEW candidate. In fact it is almost Identical to the Mecer B860. Atrend VLB 486 Galaxy motherboard. It has 128kb cache which I will see if I can bump that up to 256kb. And it supports a 486dx2-50 or 66mhz. I have some questions about …

It looks like computer stores are going to stop carrying CD-R disks. Our local large computer stores no longer carry them. Do car and stereo manufacturers still sell radios with built in CD players ?

How do you play CDROM in MXMplayer ? And How do you play files ? What is the command line option ? There is no /help option of files in the MXMplayer package. And does anyone have a .bat menu file for playing music ?
