Yeah, those old sound blaster cards are rare and expensive so I think I will just stick with the CT2950’s I have now as they where fairly inexpensive and work fine and have IDE interface I need.

I bought one of these inexpensive de-soldering guns from china. It does not work. It does not heat up enough. Has anyone else had any luck with these inexpensive guns? I just have a few motherboards to fix so I did not want to buy an expensive gun, but it looks like I might have to now.

My 1993 IBM 486-33mhz PS/1 computers have a Blue “Intel Inside” logo stickers on case. The CPU is soldered to the motherboard. But in some Newer IBM Aptiva’s the motherboards support both AMD and Intel CPU’s. It’s just a matter of resetting the jumpers for the specific CPU.

I am looking for an period correct Sound blaster for a 1993 IBM PS/1 computer With 486sx33 CPU and 16mb ram. 128kb cache. ISA slot. IDE CDROM interface needed on card. Currently, I am using an CT-2950 but I think its a 1995 card.

Thanks All. I have an IBM PS/1 with 486sx33 that was going to upgrade to 66mhz. But I think I will keep it at 33mhz now. I am going to try out both of these CPU’s and see how low they will go. I am going to use the “Setmul” program to disable L1 cache and use the turbo button function.

You can go even lower than 300 on a K6-III+. Just drop the bus speed down to 66Mhz. With a 2.5x multiplier, that would give you a speed of 165Mhz. Edit... actually, you can only go down to 3x... so 198Mhz. Do you physically have to change the jumpers or can you just do it with software. By …
