Restarted my old PC, it is a 386SX with a 33 MHz AMD cpu. Swapped the cooler from a dead 6800 GT and installed it on a 6800 LE, because Nalu. And memory cooling for what it's worth. Unlocked the extra pixel pipelines and vertex units as well, without artifacts. Today was a good day.

Intel P3 Katmai and AMD Athlon Orion were the last CPU's with external (L2) cache, maybe some old BIOS naming convention... Still looking for a Slot A with integrated L2 cache, Thunderbird. 😜

Did some benchmarking. Again. I am not sure if 3DMark2001SE is the right tool to determine the graphics card is a bottleneck, or the CPU. One easy way to find the bottlenecks is to use the lowest resolution for the benchmark and see how it scales when you increase it. Start with 640x480 and than go …

For the 2D graphics, I would go for a S3 card. Pretty much compatible with a lot of DOS games. TNT2 is also great. CPU doesn't really matter, but the faster the CPU, the hotter your Voodoos will going to get.
