My friend wants to use IRC (briefly, of course) on Windows 98. We tried using mIRC, but turns out that it isn't free, and requires registration. Can anyone here suggest a decent IRC client that will run on Windows 98? Thanks for any suggestions!

Oops, I posted a bit too early 😜 A device now shows up on the router with a 3Com OUI... and with the name "DESKPRO486". Hooray! Now I just need to get the computer discoverable on the network. I have no clue how the card just started working, but it did 😀 Again, thanks for the help!

It seems to work now, as there are two 3C503s in the Device Manager - one of them with an exclamation mark, which I can delete, and the other one which is "working properly". It doesn't say anything about IRQ conflicts in the window to configure it - then again, I can't totally doubt that there is one. I'll set it to every option it gives me and report back. But it still claims there is no driver installed for it. Would that have something to do with an IRQ conflict? …

It's a Panasonic "Inverter" 1200 watt, made almost entirely out of metal. Maybe the higher than usual power has something to do with it?

Update to this: I just acquired a Compaq 151FS. Totally different monitor, made by a different manufacturer inside. Guess what? I recently began playing Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (basically just a westernized Puyo Puyo). It's a great game and I like the soundtrack, but I can't even beat Arms at the easiest difficulty.
