Did you repair this card? I found your thread because have another strange issue with this card. It produces a bit poor quality output, text is not so sharp. Couldn't find the problem..

VGA88 has bios from 90, so no and don't know why. Parts production date code are also mismatched. VGA Wonder silkscreen bios sticker has different layout so believe that content may be also different. Didn't compare this gold chip

Golden IC is common with 88 and Edge. Edge is 1.00 from 89yr, 88 is dated 90yr. Only would like to see sticker in black version (and if another then dump)...

VGA WONDER has text at left top corner and black IC instead golden next to logic LS339. VGA88 and EDGE don't have it so I suppose that it is the first&second version and with Wonder text is the last. funny but today I tested this card (after upgrade to 2MB) and NSSI hangs the system. Maybe will try swap bios from another S3 805 and check it.

I didn't play so much with EISA systems and have question about eisa 3com adapter. When I run 3c5x9cfg then can't find the card 3c579-TP. Is card defective or some kind of EISA configuration is needed?

I have also QD6500A VLB card and one unpopulated logic IC (74138) must be inserted to run external bios. I measured connections between ISA connector and 74138, and probably in this card Gal16V8 is required so almost impossible job to recerate it

Maybe someone have this card with factory populated socket? I soldered socket and jumpers but doesn't boot from bios prom. There are many unpopulated pads so probably not worth but maybe...

The best way is tracking ebay auctions and maybe someone will have it with 5x86 cpu. About your IO error. Maybe pin header below AT connector would disable something, but without manual......

I checked VCC directly on PGA168. JP9. 1&2 = 5.1V, 2&3 = 3.4V, none = 0V JP4. Tried different configuration and 1&2, 5&6 = gives 120MHz. None success setup as full 133MHz. So I helped you, hope that you find Am5x86 config 😀

DX2 are 5V cpu (except AMD-80). LT1085 is 3V regulator so no expect other results 😀 I didn't check layout and thought that 1&2 pass thru 5V, 2&3 will pass from regulator 3V

5X86 is not 100% correct jumpers. I found this photo in local auction but it seems that 3x multiplier is set (so as DX4-100). I will try in my board set Am5x86 properly.
