the exrerior can really trick you - all the right things on display - late 486 chipset, 4 memory slots, up to 1024kb L2 cache, 4 PCI slots, 4 ISA slots, multi i/o. on the inside - apparently not so much. But to be fair v4 here is just fine at up to 160MHz. No major complains really.

Yes, what I meant was lowering AHA's DMA speed. With 286 cpu all AHA-1542# controllers did well at 25mhz + 0-ws + 10ms/s DMA speed. After that dma speed has to go down. SXL cpus result in jnherently unstable SCSI. Checked old notes about DLC + SCSI stability, they are conflicting. Some notes say …

Havent seen these as a commercial product. I guess their market will be very small because there are 10/12ns rated DIP chips available that are more than enough for 486 and Pentium 1 class hardware.

Yes, I noticed that cooling the cpu affects cache and mem timings in OC situations like yours. But it can be simply a component just starting to show its age.. Does it work with Peltier on top?

I thought you arecrunning 180 on 5v Peltier, that's why suggested to increase the voltage. But if you were running it naked, then 5v would be ok.

Stripped the entire HP circuitry. I already had EEPROM socket in place from previous mods. Yes, using the ASUS BIOS. Yes, removed the resistor under the dip switch packages. Can you point on the picture the other resistors you mentioned ?
