bios 2800 is much more prickly than 1800. dont let go just yet. use the "optimal" settings and try to work it out from there. disable external cache.

I can tell these are collectors, otherwise the SXL2-66 + adaptor is the cheaper path to a much better place. Of course, many of these threads are not visible from top level search engines, so good chance many people are just not aware.

Some specific isa scsi controllers can be faster than ide ones in certain scenarios. The opposite is true as well. Especially if CF cards are used as attached storage devices. This is well established fact. Your observations are correct within the context you present them. Nothing to see here. : )

SiS 611 is slower than 411 for what i know. 611 is PIO-3 only. 411 with driver can reach PIO-4 speeds for reading at least. Never saw SiS 83C601 chip or card based on it. Do you have any available photo reference ? Attached PIO-4 enabler for UM8672F.

Very cool. I was unable to make the Zida board do well at 60/66MHz FSB. Was thinking to give it another spin soon. 3-2-3 cache timings is going to be slower than no cache in the most cases. As you said early - you should check the Zida without L2 cache. Btw, you don't have to post multiple …
