Re: 3 (+3 more) retro battle stations

yeah, disappointing. --- In another news finally found the time to move the 180MHz LuckyStar rev:D rig to 200MHz. Details at the bottom of the original post . Very stable. Some highlights: Quake 1 - 22.7 fps GL Quake - 35.1 fps Video showing the rig in action. EDIT: Forgot to add something. Better …

Re: 3 (+3 more) retro battle stations

@BitWrangler Can you clarify your message further. What is a snowflake pulse shape/timing ? Also, how this will reduce clock speed by 20% ? @Feipoa Ok, so the L2 cache hole is between the 48th and 64th megabyte it seems. Wonder if this is really remedied by installing more RAM, or it just masks the …

Re: 3 (+3 more) retro battle stations

Very interesting find indeed. Didn't check back then with more than 64Mb because of the 256Kb L2 cache module limit but with 1Mb module you exposed an address-range "performance hole". LS C/D, UUD, PVI, VLI don't have such issues as long as you stay within the L2 cacheable range. --- @Anonymous Coward Will run …

Re: 3 (+3 more) retro battle stations

Have you seen NEC 8087 in the real life ? It looks like AMD NEC and Cyrix produced collectively 5 or so 8087 clones before Intel came rumbling on them. So far the only 8087 FPUs i have seen are from Intel. Some vague memories about seeing on picture some Russian spin-offs rated at single MHz digits. …

Re: 3 (+3 more) retro battle stations

Been talking to somebody in private about couple things. Figured it will be good to share some of them in the public space - can be useful to others. Subject 1: image quality of various RAMDACs from late 80ies to mid 90ies SS2410, 24-bit, Diamond Multimedia (?) KDA0476PL-80 / KDA0476PL-80, 6-bit, …
