Can you use the unmodified driver from the archive and set D# flags ? I use the non-installed driver and have control with D or M flags. Good to hear you are getting somewhere with the optical drives. Your last sentence - good analogy. : D

From what I remember reading the manual, M0 or D0 refers to the Primary port: MASTER, while M1 or D1 refers to the Primary port: SLAVE - not the Secondary IDE header. Do I remember incorrectly? Keep in mind that dtc 2278 models E/B and E (latest revision) are EIDE interfaces. Previous versions are IDE implementations. Some of the early ones not even PIO 4 ready. I think jumpers can override the default policy, which can be overriden by driver flag. But at some point i tested turbo/fast/normal speeds and ended up leaving it there.

@Feipoa Don't forget to show-off when you complete the setup. Cannot remember if i ever tried EIDE2300Pro in Win95. I keep VLB hardware on up to DOS + Win 3.1.
